What it is

How Craniosacral Therapy Works Here

We all have responses from our internal organs and nervous system that signal when something in our bodies is not quite right and requires experienced attention. Your physiotherapist can find another type of pulse — the craniosacral rhythm — influenced by fluctuating pressure from cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) as it protects your brain and spinal cord.

This sterile fluid coats your nervous system from head (cranium) to tailbone (sacrum), allowing your body to move freely as you bend and twist. There is a delicate balance between alternating CSF pressure and your body's ability to adapt to stressors such as changes in air (sinus) and blood pressure.

Pamela Klombies (BScPT), craniosacral physiotherapist, is adept at palpating and making small adjustments to improve the function of your craniosacral nervous system.

Who can benefit from CST? Anyone who has suffered a physical trauma (direct injury, overuse, underuse, misuse, fracture, surgery, infection, radiation, toxic exposure, etc.). The resultant inflammatory response can lead to fibrous tissue deposition, blood flow restriction, oxygen compromise, poor function and compensation. Anyone whose symptoms have lasted much longer than the natural expected healing time, refer beyond the initial injury site, or seem out of proportion to the initial trauma may also benefit.

During your session, you rest in comfortable clothing while your physiotherapist conducts a complete assessment. Through gentle palpation and very little pressure, restrictions in nerve responses are identified. Small adjustments mobilize pressure around skull bones, spinal joints, lymph, myofascial and nervous tissue.
